dear spring, i’m ready to shine
what a wonderful thing it is to feel lovely. there’s something so magical about dressing in a way that makes you feel like rays of sunshine, like a fairy, like you belong in your own fantasy or romance novel. i mean seriously, nothing can top wearing an outfit that makes you feel like you can take over the world… or at least your favorite coffee shop! and this spring? the fashion world is serving up energizing trends that are all full on mermaid, feminine, and disco with a touch of vintage and i am so here for it! from floating sheer fabric to sequins mini skirts 2025’s spring fashion is a true love letter to all things girly—but with a twist. this season, we're leaving behind the minimalist, clean girl aesthetic (thank god) and leaning all the way into mermaid disco. i’m talking sequins tops paired with low rise minis that came straight from a 2003 afterparty. it’s girly, it’s bold and it’s got this effortless slightly chaotic energy that, quite frankly, i am obsessed with.
color is everything right now, and i couldn’t be happier. gone are the days of boring neutral, it is time for the color combinations we have been waiting for! picture this: ocean blue meshing with a sunny yellow, earthy greens playing with bubblegum pink, and silver sequins flirting with a layered sheer purple mesh.
i mean seriously it’s like your closet is throwing a party and every color got an invite. and honestly? i’m so here for it.
what i love most is this unapologetic femininity that comes with these upcoming months. this love for being a little extra. this spring the time to say yes, i want to sparkle at noon, and yes i will wear a mini skirt that’s practically a belt, and yes on top it all off with some chunky gold jewlery that i got from a garage sale.
so the question now is, where the heck do i even find clothes like this? i am so glad you asked!
now listen, my holy grail is depop, and if you haven’t heard me scream about it yet, consider this your official introduction. however be warned, you will find yourself spending a bit too much. depop is your online thrift shop and my personal happy place! you make an account, search up what your looking for, and find pieces from individuals that directly speak to you. however with that being said you still gotta do a bit of digging. the key is to search with vibes in mind, not just single items. instead of typing “cute top,” think bigger—try “disco sequin halter top” or “vintage mini low rise skirt.” you’ll unlock pieces that feel like one of a kind. and if you don’t know what to search? girl get on that pinterest grind and find some inspo!
but depop isn’t the only girlie in my rotation. if you’re more of an instant gratification kinda shopper (no judgment—i, too, have been there at 11pm with a sudden craving for a metallic bag right now), here’s where else i’m loving:
peppermayo - the cutest selection of tops and skirts! i personally love going to the ‘occasion’ section and either looking through the vacation, summer, or festival sections!
dollskill - i totally just discovered this and don’t get me wrong, at first it’s a little intimidating but when you really get into it, you can find some super unique pieces that totally fit the vibe!
princess polly - classic, but here me out. they’re really leaning into the bold colors, fun textures, and flirty silhouettes this season and you can find some great pieces!
urban outfitters - listen, i know UO is hit or miss, but if you dive into the sale section or their ‘going out tops’, it’s giving exactly the mermaid disco energy we want
free people - a little pricey but when they get it right? they GET IT RIGHT. their sheer tops and funky skirts are so on point right now
vintage stores & thrift shops - the real goldmine. bring a vision, some patience, and maybe a coffee, and you’ll win a least one piece you love!
here are some of my favs! : https://gowish.com/wishlists/qlovjnfAhOTs7hsn
the fun part now is the mixing and matching. a sequined top you found at a thrift store with a random sheer scarf from your mom’s closet? perfect. a shiny mini skirt from depop with a baby tee you cropped yourself? chef’s kiss.
so with all of that being said i wish a happy hunting! may your carts be full, your thrifts be lucky, and your outfits always feel like love letters to your younger self who dreamed of dressing exactly like this.
